You will most likely be called to work in your own precinct, but you may be asked to work at a different precinct as needed. You may be called to work in any election that may be held within Jasper County. You will receive notification by email or mail before each election. How will I be notified about working an election? New hires will need to show two forms of ID -Driver’s License, Social Security Card, Passport, or Birth Certificate. If chosen to work, new hires will be required to complete an I-9 and W-4 for State and Federal Taxes.Typically election workers are paid within 2 weeks after working an election.Mileage reimbursement is based on the current federal business rate Mileage is paid to and from in-person training, to and from the polling place, and to and from the Jasper County Courthouse to pick up supplies before the election.You will be paid hourly for attending training and hours worked at the polls.Precinct election officials are currently paid $12.00 per hour.Workers must remain at the polling location all day with necessary scheduled breaks included. The polls open at 7:00 am and close at 8:00 pm statewide. On election day your day will start at your assigned polling location at 6:00 am and end between 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Dates and times for training will be given when you receive notification about working an election. In-Person training is required prior to ALL elections.
